Biography
Carol Hiles is based in Cardiff, South Wales, where she has a studio with Butetown Artists. She studied Fine Art at Cardiff Art School and has created and exhibited work focused on painting and drawing since graduating in the early 1980s. Carol has substantial experience as an artist working within the field of arts and health and was engaged as Artist in Residence at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport for eleven years, a post which was followed by a residency at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant. She has also pursued a successful career in Higher Education, teaching BA and MA Art Practice at the University of South Wales (formerly the University of Glamorgan), where she occupied a number of senior academic roles including Post Graduate Coordinator for the Faculty of Creative Industries, Academic Subject Manager of Photography and Art and Course Leader of MA Arts Practice (Arts, Health and Wellbeing). She has now left Higher Education to concentrate on her studio practice.
